Started by a group of local Athens families looking to make a positive change for their children with disabilities, Georgia Options was formed to help create a more equitable community for everyone. By challenging the status quo and supporting adults with developmental disabilities to live in their own homes and have typical life experiences, we are helping make our communities across Georgia stronger, more vibrant, and more inclusive.

Now 30 years later, Georgia Options is the only nonprofit organization in the state dedicated to supporting adults with diagnosed developmental disabilities to live in their own homes and have typical life experiences. We believe it’s our responsibility to raise awareness about the very fruitful lives of adults with disabilities — especially the invaluable contributions they make to our communities on a daily basis.

Every person deserves the right to autonomy, independence, and self-determination in their community. We all deserve the right to live the life we choose.
